It’s been an exciting month here at Bowral and District Hospital with plenty of progress on the $50 million redevelopment.

While it takes time, it is always very interesting to watch the construction phase move from early works into the nitty gritty of redeveloping the Clinical Services Building.
We are now working towards the new ambulance entrance and access to the hospital, as well as having commissioned the new entrance to the car park from Mona Road.
I’m sure you will agree that this will improve access for people coming to and from this section of the hospital when it is complete.
We also have detailed design meetings underway for the new Clinical Services Building and ongoing staff and community updates so we can keep everyone informed.
Meanwhile, business as usual continues inside the hospital and we are coming into the main influenza season for 2018.
I’ve already had my flu jab for the year and I cannot encourage everyone enough to get one too.
It might seem unnecessary, particularly if you don’t normally get sick, but it is one of the most important things you can do to keep yourself and your family healthy this winter.
For me, getting the flu shot means I will be able to stay healthy for the hospital and for my three boys who don’t need a father laid low by influenza.
Lastly, I would encourage everyone to think carefully before coming to the hospital’s Emergency Department in the coming months.
Of course, we are always here and ready to help in emergency situations when people are very sick or badly injured.
But we have so much more capacity to provide this help if people with less urgent conditions visit their GP or a pharmacist as a first option.
