The Moss Vale Basketball Association had several representative teams in action over the weekend but it was the under-12 girls, under-14 boys and under-16s girls teams that took home the title.
In the division one grand final at the John Martin Country Tournament, the under-12 girls defeated Gosford 47-25.
The under-14 boys beat Newcastle in their division two grand final match 34-31 while the under-16 girls won the division three grand final 40-17 against Milton-Ulladulla. Moss Vale Basketball Association representative director and under-12 girls coach Clint Bentley said it was a fantastic result for the association, with all teams performing well.
Up against what Bentley described as “the best of the NSW Country teams” what is a small association once again proved it has plenty of talent.
The under-16 girls said were particularly dominant, going through the weekend undefeated despite being without a few players due to injury.
“It’s an awesome achievement,” Bentley said.
The two other winning sides also did well, winning most of their games on the way to being crowned Country Champions.
“We’re very proud of all their achievements. There’s been a lot of hard work to get to this point.”

Bentley said the under-12 girls lost two games and the under-14 boys only lost one game by a narrow margin.
“We’re very proud of all their achievements. There’s been a lot of hard work to get to this point.”
For most of the teams, it will be the end of their representative duties and players will return to the Highlands competition.
However, Bentley said he believed the under-14 girls side qualified for the Country Championship League (CCL) which begins in a couple of weeks. The under-18 boys also took part in the CCL qualifying tournament but did not make it through.
