It was a tough three days of competition for the under-17 team with wet weather conditions up in Gosford on Saturday and Sunday.
The team had one game postponed from Sunday morning to later in the afternoon, when conditions improved slightly.
Southern Highlands Netball Association competition coordinator Kate Bow said despite the difficult conditions, the girls performed well.
”[We had] sun, cold, rain, rain and more rain and very windy. That makes netball very tough. But everyone was in the same boat and those who were able to adjust to the terrible conditions came out on top,” she said.
Bow said it was a great effort from the young team that finished with four wins, two draws and several close games.
“We were a young team. We had two under-15s , six under 16s and two under 17s which are able to make up the team for under 17’s state champs
“So it was a great experience and next year they will be able to all come back older and wiser.”
The Highlands side managed to beat two teams that were higher up on the ladder in eighth and 10th position.
“Overall our girls had fun, always had a smile on their faces showed great sportsmanship even when it was tough,” Bow said.
“I was very proud of them .”
