The club was joined by 29 guests at its annual Pride of Workmanship meeting. The guests represented all the nursing homes in the Southern Highlands along with the Wingecarribee Adult Day Care Centre.
The special meeting aimed to recognise excellence of carers in the Highlands and a certificate was awarded to a representative of each organisation.
Guest speaker Noeline Brown was on hand to congratulate each recipient for a job well done.
Event organiser Will Eddowes said that while the Rotary Club was impressed by the citations of those present, there were many other carers in the community who also made a valuable contribution. “Indeed great work is carried out by many carers in the home, many of them family members. The club recognises their contribution but felt it impractical to include them at this event,” he said.
Mr Eddowes said Rotary’s Pride of Workmanship Awards went back 42 years with the objective of the program to recognise the value of excellence in the workplace with particular reference to carers.
Ms Brown spoke about her six years as Ambassador for the Ageing, visiting nursing homes all over Australia.
Certificates were awarded to Wendy Hill of Abbey House, Theresa Johnson of Anthem Care, Lynette Gwilliam of Bowral House, Jade Evans of Harbison Burradoo, Sharmila Chhetry of Harbison Moss Vale, Alison Benson of Warrigal Bundanoon and Linda Steele of Wingecarribee Adult Day Care Centre.
