The Southern Highlands has officially transformed into the Southern Pie-Lands for June.
The Pie Time 2018 launch, which was held at Eschalot in Berrima on June 1, officially opened the festival and kicked off the festivities.
Destination Southern Highlands manager of tourism and events Steve Rosa said there were a range of activities on offer with a jam-packed, pie-themed program this year.
“Pie Time has a full program. This year will see a lot of star events from last year come forward and we’ve added to that this year,” Mr Rosa said.
Mr Rosa said he expected the event to be bigger and better this year, with a new location for the festival’s signature event.
“The signature event no doubt is our two-day pie festival, which we’ve re-named Pie Fest. We’re taking it to a new location outside of Corbett Gardens,” he said.
“We got swamped last year. We probably underestimated the response that we got from the public. In an effort to continue to grow the event, we’re taking it out to Bong Bong Racecourse for Saturday, [June 23] and Sunday, [June 24].”
Organisers announced the Pie Time ambassadors, which included Australian former professional rugby league player Nathan Hindmarsh.
The festival will run from Friday, June 1 to Saturday, June 30.
