Club co-president Matthew Griffiths said it was a great effort from the team.
The young Hawks made some good running bounces and their kicking and marking skills were also on display.
Archie Goldring received the coach’s award in Sunday’s match against the Port Kembla Eagles.
And while the under-11s and under-13s did not get a win, Griffiths said both teams were getting closer to a victory.
The under-11s played Shellharbour Swans and reduced the margin by a significant amount compared to when the two sides last faced each other a few weeks ago.
“The team played a four quarter effort. They’re closing the gap on the swans who beat us by more goals last time,” Griffiths said.
“Our centre clearance work has improved a lot since the start of the year and it was on display on the weekend.”
Mali Cassar received the under-11 coach’s award.
Missing a few players, the under-13s side took on Port Kembla Eagles and they too managed to reduce the margin from previous weeks.
“We’re certainly working away and getting closer to opposition teams on the scoreboard,” Griffiths said.
“We will work at training on an improved four quarter effort.”
He said Liam Nyholm played well in Sunday’s game for the Hawks.
