The latest NSW Bureau of Crime Statistics and Research (BOCSAR) report showed a 20 per cent reduction in property offences over the past two years within the Wingecarribee local government area.
In the past 12 months steal from dwelling has dropped by 47 per cent while steal from retail store has dropped by 41 per cent.
Steal from motor vehicle also fell by 32 percent, and break, enter and steal from dwelling fell by 28 per cent.
Hume Police District Commander, Superintendent Chris Schilt, said the latest report was an indication of the district’s good police work.
“The reduction of property crime in the Southern Highlands has been achieved through the persistent effort and good work by the local police,” he said.
“It also demonstrates the ongoing support the community provide to the local police.”
While the results were pleasing for Superintendent Schilt, he said the district would not let up on furthering reducing the number of property crime incidents.
“Whilst the figures relating to property crime were pleasing the Southern Highlands police will remain diligent in reducing crime and promoting a safer community,” he said.
