Last weekend the new carpark with an additional 20 spaces was opened to the public.
There has been an increase from 11, to 31 car spaces in this section of the carpark, and by the end of the redevelopment there will be an additional 16 spaces in total.
Bowral hospital general manager Joel Bardsley said he was pleased to see the upgrade construction progressing.
“This key milestone is a great step forward in the $50 million redevelopment of the hospital which will provide top-quality care for our community well into the future,” he said.
Along with additional car spaces, there were a number of improvements made to the flow of traffic as well as better lighting and access to the car park from Mona Road making it safer for patients, staff and visitors.
Mr Bardsley said there would be as little disruption to patients and visitors as possible as the construction continues.
"We are continually reviewing parking and hospital access to ensure minimal disruption during the redevelopment project,” he said.
The NSW Government’s $50 million investment in the hospital will include new operating theatres, adult and paediatric inpatient wards, birthing suites, more single rooms with ensuites, new rehabilitation spaces and a new hospital entrance.
The Emergency Department ramp will be the next step of the redevelopment, which isn’t expected to be completed until the end of this year.
Following the ramp, construction will begin on the Clinical Services Building.
