This musical and visual spectacular is set to raise the roof!
“I’m excited to be sharing the stage with an even larger cast this year,” acclaimed violinist Ian Cooper said.
“We have three magnificent sopranos, a principal tenor from Opera Australia, the amazing Australia’s foremost Pipe Band, Highland Dancers, our Classical Ballet dancing Strauss Waltzes, Jealousy Tango and The Can-Can, all accompanied by the Blue Danube Orchestra.
Other Proms’ favourites will include Rule Britannia, The March of the British Grenadiers and Edward Elgar’s Land of Hope and Glory.
“The thrill of performing with a cast of this size is a feeling like no other, especially when we are all on stage together. I find the show absolutely exhilarating and I sense the overwhelming joy from the audiences as well,” he added.
The concert will take a musical journey all across Europe - from Spain, France, popular Italian Arias, music from the famous Hungarian Gypsy Orchestras, plus selections from The Sound of Music and The Merry Widow, as well as Jerusalem, Carmen’s Toreador Song and Strauss’ Radetzky March.
“I enjoy the diversity we can achieve by having all those singers. Each one has their specialty from Opera, musical theatre and beautiful love songs. I also love it when the pipers and drummers enter and march through the audience.
“I’ve no need to announce their arrival as it’s pretty obvious! It’s a complete surprise - all heads turn. I like to think of it as our salute to the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo,” Ian said.
“We also invite the audience to join us in Land of Hope and Glory and Rule Britannia when we put the words on the screens. That’s a magnificent sound as well!”
The performance will be at 2pm on Sunday, May 10.
