Support for Dignity
These Autumn nights as we light a log fire and get out our favourite slow cook recipes, we could do well to press pause on our cosiness, just long enough to consider those less fortunate, those who are homeless.

Our locally founded organisation, Dignity, fortunately considers those who are just that.
Thanks to hard work and generous donations, Dignity now has 20 houses around the state, refuges which give those in urgent need respite and a roof over their head.
But these are not just handouts, the roof is accompanied by an enabling program that addresses the cause of that person’s homelessness, often with inspiring results.
The organisation is currently working on two initiatives to raise funds and promote awareness of homelessness – one is a three course dinner for 200-300 people at Mittagong RSL on Saturday August 11th.
It will be a night of warm community networking, eminent speakers, plenty of entertainment, and the most amazing silent auction and raffle choc a block of donated gifts. Tickets may be booked via www.trybooking.com/VITM
The other is, wait for it – a book to stand right up there alongside Humans of New York.
It is ‘a collection of stories told to us by people who are homeless, called Hands of the Homeless. Each story has an attached photo of the hands of the speaker whose story we are hearing.
They are gripping stories,’ says the editor of this publication, Dr Michelle Mulvihill. I can actually see publishers fighting to secure this gem!
Sent from my cosy computer, hoping you’re comfortable too, and let’s see what we can do to re-roof those less fortunate?
