The theme, Time Travel, will conjure up images of the sci-fi and encompass a variety of ways we transit through time – from morning to night, through life and to the after-life.
The varied musical program will extend from Brahms How Lovely Are Thy Dwellings, to Bernstein’s Tonight from West Side Story and Eric Clapton’s Tears In Heaven.
The passing of the day will be expressed in several pieces.
The tranquil Aftonen will create a scene of fading light in a Scandinavian forest.
To The Evening Star will be another unusual item which was commissioned by the choir and composed by Highlands musician John D’Arcy.
The folk song Early One Morning will be familiar to audiences while the delightful Wynken, Blynken and Nod is reminiscent of childhood dreams.
The longing of the negro slaves for freedom and happiness in the afterlife will be captured in My Lord What A Morning and When The Trumpet Sounds, which is joyful rather than melancholy.
Performances will be held on May 25 at 6pm and May 26 at 3pm, in the Bundanoon Memorial Hall.
The 3pm performance on June 2 will be held in the Bowral Uniting Church.
Tickets will cost $20 each and includes refreshments.
Purchase your ticket at www.serendipitythechoir.com.
Tickets can also be bought at The Brown Bookshop in Bowral, Todds Real Estate in Bundanoon, or online using TryBooking.
Serendipity was founded in 2008 in Bundanoon, from approximately where one-third of their singers come from.
Others travel from various locations to be a part of this ensemble – Exeter, Moss Vale, Robertson, Burradoo, Mittagong, Braemar, Tallong and Bowral.
A spokesperson for the choir said it was full of encouragement.
“The greatest strength of Serendipity lies in its singers, the choristers themselves and their dedication, enthusiasm and involvement in the life of the choir,” she said.
“We are now a closely knit group in which each singer receives support and encouragement from others, and all feel a strong sense of ownership of the choir.
