Kids from around the region get ready to spoil mum

Whether it be her beautiful cooking or her warm hugs, we all love our mums.

Down the South Coast and up to the Southern Highlands, kids have been craftily cutting and colouring that special Mother’s Day card.

But beyond the card, is  a special sentiment.

We asked kids why they love their mum.

The answers are touching, funny and always honest.

Far South Coast

It was arts and crafts time in the kindy room of Lumen Christi Catholic College on Tuesday, May 8.

Students allowed a sneak peek of their special ideas for Mothers Day.

Without giving too much away, Hayden Irving hopes to get his mum “a sausage dog named Bob.”

Fleur McGrath said she is planning to give mum “101 kisses” on Mother’s Day whilst Mitch Miller wants to get his mum a donut “because she always be’s nice to me”.

Darcy Mannell assured that his mum would get exactly what she wanted this Mother’s Day, as he picks up a pencil and said “it is going to be this colour blue”.

Many kindergartners said they “love mum because she buys me lollies”. Eamon Conville stood out and said “I love her because she makes me lovely dinner”.

Mothers Day is a chance to reflect on all the ways mums go above and beyond for their children – even the not-so-little ones.

Ryan Simper, Jacob Hodge and Tashinda Kenny, of Narooma High School, and Kouper Miles, Skyla and Summer Ryan, and Ella and Bray Thurlow of Bodalla Public School, took a moment out of their busy days to tell roving reporter Joel Erickson why their mum’s the best.

If you want to get moving with your mum this weekend, head to the Moruya Mother’s Day Classic Fun Run – and raise funds for breast cancer while you’re at it.

It doesn’t matter if you walk or run, it just matters that you get moving. The dress code covers outfits from lycra to ball gowns, but if you want to be on trend, think pink.

The Southern Highlands
