These are some of council’s most important documents because they detail our immediate goals and the funding priorities we will commit to over the next twelve months.
It includes all the major projects we will tackle in the year ahead including the proposed Station Street Upgrade, Kirkham Street Reconstruction, Moss Vale Cemetery Masterplan, Bowral Cemetery improvements and an apprentice and traineeship program.
It also includes all the ‘smaller’ jobs that we promise to undertake including community building repairs, footpath renewals, drainage and stormwater constructions, kerb and guttering works and bridge renewals to name a few.
It lists all Capital Works, Environmental Levy works and dedicated Special Rate Variation projects we will undertake right across the shire.
It’s for this reason we sometimes refer to it as a blueprint for our future program of works.
Some of the key figures from this year’s Budget include $219 million to be spent on infrastructure and renewal projects over the next four years including $62 million to be allocated towards the upgrading of the Bowral and Moss Vale Sewage Treatment Plants.
A further $59 million will be spent on roads, bridges and footpaths and $21 million will go towards community buildings and recreation areas. An additional $17 million will be allocated towards stormwater drainage works.
Underpinning all of the goals and activities within this plan are our seven Strategic Priorities.
These include continued prudent financial management, improving our community assets, protecting our natural environment, delivery of significant infrastructure, better service alignment and delivery, community wellbeing and transforming the way we do business to ensure our customers come first.
The draft 2018/19 Operational Plan, Budget and Capital Works Program, which includes our proposed Fees and Charges, are now on public exhibition until Thursday, May 24.
You can view all of these documents online at www.yoursaywingecarribee.com.au or in person at Council’s Moss Vale Civic Centre and at Council Libraries.
I encourage all readers to take a moment to view these plans, comment on our proposed program of works, and see when we’ll be undertaking works that will affect you.
