Bowral defeated Camden 8.5 points to Camden’s 1.5 points, with Bowral winning one rink and Camden winning one rink with one rink a draw. Richard Denman, Graham Hunt, Don Chapman and Gordon Lewis defeated Camden 23-17.
The team made a move early and Camden went to a 13-4 lead after eight ends. While Bowral struggled earlier on, the players gradually got their game going and when they picked up five shots on the 12th end, they were in front 14-13. At the end Bowral won convincingly by six shots.
Mike Holmewood, Clive Neutze, Brian Porter amd Bob Edwards mounted a desperate rally to fight out a 19-19 draw. This was after the disappointment of being 13-4 down after eight ends. Bowral upped the ante and on the last end scored two shots to come away with a draw.
Glen Giese, Owen Williams, Mick Flynn and Dan Ticehurst lost 18-17. This proved to be a cracker of a game In the first half Bowral had Camden just in front 9-7, and the play was tight. On the last end Camden held the shot and Bowral could not get the bowl out of the head. With their opponents winning by the barest margin of one shot.
Grade 6
Camden defeated Bowral 63-50. Camden won two rinks while Bowral won one rink, and Camden was on 9 points while Bowral was on one point.
This was a shock loss for Bowral who were leading the section with Camden in last place. Manager Bill Addie said Bowral did not do enough to deserve a win. Oscar Whalan, Bruce Clynes, Russell Knight and Kevin Stafford defeated Camden 23-16. A largely good team work from Bowral had them in front 11-9 after 11 ends.
Bowral were able to step up there play in the second half of the match to come away with a seven shot win. Carl Spilker, Ken Handley, Russell Fahey and Paul Leverett lost to Camden 17-16.
This match could easily have gone either way. Bowral had a 10-5 lead at the half way mark.
A good effort by both teams had Bowral leading 16-15 with one end to play. Camden needed two shots to win and that they did as this was a top pennant match.
Don Coleman, Alistair McGhee, Nathan Boyers and David Coltman lost to Camden 31-10.
Camden made a penetration on the score board early and went to a 11-0 lead after five ends. It was Camden making all the difference on the score board, as the team created all the opportunities and went on to a solid 21-shot win.
