A family friendly Anzac Day service will commence at 9.30am on April 25 at historic Bradman Oval. The RAAF will officiate with guest speaker Rodney Cavallier AO. Rodney is a former NSW state politician and former Chairman of the Sydney Cricket Ground Trust.
Two free T20 matches will be held on the oval commencing at 10am with the Women’s RAAF XI v NSW Academy Women’s, followed by the Men’s RAAF XI v Bradman XI at 1.30pm.
Teams will compete for the Bradman Miller Cup, named in honour of Don Bradman and his cricketing teammate Keith Miller.
Keith is arguably the greatest all-rounder in the history of Australian Test cricket, who played an aggressive and attractive style of cricket that could turn a match in the blink of an eye.
Miller served in the RAAF during WWII as a fighter pilot, flying combat missions over Germany. The RAAF’s Sergeant Graham Gleeson said of cricket’s rich legacy in the RAAF.
BBC hit TV show ‘Escape to the Country’ will also be filming the day’s matches and ceremony on Bradman Oval and inside the museum, featuring some of the most famous cricket artifacts in Australian sporting history. The show will air on ABC TV nationally and abroad this summer.
