Five private gardens will open to the public on April 21 and 22.

Southern Highlands Botanic Gardens’ Chris Blaxland said he was selective in which gardens were chosen for the event.

“A wide variety of gardens were chosen that showcase grass meadows, sculptures, lakes and more,” Blaxland said.

These gardens will be Prittlewell in Fitzroy Falls, Roberton Park in Glenquarry, and Bowral’s Bellagio, Wilderwood, and Heidi’s Garden. 

In addition to this, a plant fair will be held at the Southern Highlands Botanic Garden (SHBG) from 9am to 4pm.

A vast variety of rare and unusual plants will be available for purchase.

The plants were grown in the Southern Highlands by the SHBG Plant Growers Group. 

The array of plants will include a collection of salvias, succulents, penstemon alpines, daphne, dahlias, plants for shade, plants for sun, natives, bulbs, trees and shrubs. 

A plant creche will be available so visitors can stop, take a break, and safely leave their plants while they enjoy the provided tea and coffee. 

With country estates, contemporary meadows and town gardens, this event promises to have something for everyone.

A single garden ticket will cost $10.

Alternatively, there will be an all-weekend pass for $35 which will include entry to all five gardens.

Entry to the plant fair will be free.

All proceeds from the weekend will be directed back to the botanic gardens.
