Two well-seasoned musicians will present an engaging night of piano and clarinet repertoire on Sunday, April 15.

Pianist Andrew Rumsey is ready to return to the stage after his 10-month performance tour of the USA, Canada and Spain where he performed in Carnegie Hall, the Miami Music Festival, the Atlantic Music Festival and more.

He has now joined forces with Canberra-based clarinet virtuoso, Thomas Azoury, for Anecdotes and Soliloquies – An evening with Thomas Azoury and Andrew Rumsey.

Rumsey said he was excited to perform alongside Azoury on Sunday.

“The magic doesn’t happen in combining a clarinet with a piano,” Rumsey said.

“When two people who love music come together, that’s where the magic happens.”

Being friends and colleagues for nearly a decade, together they will bring a tangible level of electricity to the stage.

Sandwiched between pieces will be inspiring, embarrassing and unfortunate tales of events and happenings from their careers so far.

Get a glimpse into the joy, calamity and sheer irony that befalls some musicians.

Rumsey said he was thrilled to return to Highlands for the performance.

“This will be my first performance back in Australia after touring abroad and my first public appearance on stage since then,” he said.

“I love the Highlands and I grew up here.”

Composers for the performance include Sarasate, Saint-Seans, Schubert-Liszt, Glinka-Balakirev and more.

The performance will be held on Sunday, April 15, at 4.30pm.

Andrew Rumsey and Thomas Azoury will perform at the Rose Room, 51 F Sunninghill Avenue, Burradoo.

A second performance will be held on Sunday, May 6 at 4.30pm at Soldiers Memorial Hall, 3 Railway Avenue, Burradoo.
