There were only a small number of incidents that occurred throughout the night, which was a credit to the community and the work of police.
Extra police were rostered for the final night of 2017 and most of the licensed premises in the Southern Highlands were visited, where crowds were in good spirits and generally well behaved.
Police also monitored residential areas where they responded to a number of noisy parties and reports of illegal fireworks.
Police said that the night was a success overall, with members of the public enjoying the festivities they attended.
