The works will be undertaken approximately 300 metres on either side of the railway bridge near Ringwood Road.
Works will be split into two components with the first stage taking place in January from the railway overpass north towards Exeter.
The second stage of the project is expected to be carried out in July 2018.
Works will include excavating the existing road, stabilising the sub-grade surface and adding a new asphalt top surface. The road will also be widened on both sides of the bridge through the curves.
Final elements of the project will include the installation of new safety signage and addition of line-marking.
During the rehabilitation works some immediate trees will be pruned to improve the visibility of motorists.
During stage one of works Bundanoon Road will be closed to northbound traffic at Ringwood Road and Ringwood Lane will also be closed at Bundanoon Road to all traffic.
Detours will be set up via Ringwood and Elsmore Roads.
Southbound traffic on Bundanoon Road will be managed by traffic controllers.
Road users and pedestrians are cautioned to follow the changed traffic conditions including detours, exercise care when travelling through the construction zones and be aware of loose stones and heavy machinery within the work areas.
Signage will be erected advising motorists of the works and subsequent detour routes however where possible, motorists are advised to avoid the area.
Council thanked motorists in advance for their cooperation and apologised for any temporary delays or inconvenience. Stage one of the Bundanoon Road Rehabilitation project is scheduled to be completed by late March 2018.
