Bowral lawn bowlers have claimed this year’s Eric Plain Trophy.
Bowlers competed in the Southern Highlands Cup at Bowral Bowling Club on Saturday, and claimed victory against Robertson Bowling Club and Bundanoon Bowling Club.
The competition featured two rounds of triples and two rounds of pairs.
After the final matches team Bowral lead the point score with nine points.
Meanwhile team Bundanoon and team Robertson ended the day with three points.
The trophy was named after late Southern Tablelands District president and Robertson Bowling Club member Eric Plain.
Plain was remembered by family, friends and former colleagues during the annual tournament.
Among the competitors was Plain’s son Damien, who played for Robertson Bowling Club .
Plain said he was humbled to have the opportunity to take part in a tournament that honoured his late father.
“It’s a bit of an honour to have a trophy named after him,” he said.
“I’ve met a lot of people that were friends with dad.
“The involvement of all three clubs and the camaraderie was great. It’s a great time to get together.”
Plain, who has been heavily involved with Robertson-Burrawang Soccer Club among other sports, said his parents had an influence on his love of sport.
“My family is heavily involved with sport,” he said.
“Mum and dad always encouraged us to play.”
Bowral Bowling Club’s Gordon Lewis said the tournament gave the three clubs an opportunity to socialise.
“It’s not only competitive, it’s about camaraderie,” Lewis said.
