The 16-year-old has been accepted into the San Diego Surf College Cup Showcase.
Lewis will be one of the youngest players to travel to the United States with the NSW under 17s team.
She will fly to the United States on November 22, and compete in the tournament from November 24 to 26.
Lewis said she was excited to compete overseas and grow as a player.
“I’m nervous but excited. Just playing there will be a great experience,” she said.
“The team is hard working, committed and a lovely group of girls.”
The selection was an opportunity Lewis said she never expected.
When she went to the trial, she was among 50 players competing for a spot.
The team was narrowed down to 16 players.
Lewis said the standard of soccer was high during the trials.
“It was really hard, I didn’t think I’d get in,” she said.
“There were so many good players from around NSW.”
The showcase is a class one tournament which is open to the US Youth Soccer Association, US Club Soccer, Super Y League and FIFA affiliated teams.
The college cup tournament is a nationally-recognised premier tournament. The competition is rated among the top two in the United States.
This year players from seven countries will compete in front of college coaches.
Countries include Australia, Canada, Guatemala, Japan, Mexico, South Korea and the US.
380 top-level teams have been accepted this year.
Lewis said she hoped the experience led to further international opportunities.
“I want to move overseas to the US and play professionally,” she said.
“I want to improve my soccer and play to the best of my ability.”
All girls teams will play at the SoCal Sports Complex in Oceanside and the boys teams will play at the Surf Cup Sports Park in Del Mar.
Each venue has 20-plus full-sized fields. About 500 college coaches will attend the tournament.
All teams will play three full-length games, and one game per day over three days.
