On Friday, November 17 from 5:30pm at The Mill, speaker Peter Horne, a finance and technology specialist in the global financial services industry, will be explaining what crypto currencies are and why they have recently gained increased traction and investor interest.
Mr Horne, who is based between Hong Kong, Boston and Sydney as a financial risk specialist, is also actively involved through his own ventures in the development of analytics and platforms for the burgeoning cryptocurrency segment.
With a firm grasp on cryptography and security, Mr Horne said he is particularly interested in finding ways to bring innovative ideas back to Australia.
“My number one objective [at the event] will be to help people understand what’s going on, and answer any questions people have to help them bring ideas to life in the Highlands,” Mr Horne said.
The entire crypto currency sector is now valued at over USD$185billion and digital currencies are now being accepted as payment by an increasing number of online services and vendors.
In the last 12 months, for example, Bitcoin has risen from AUD$890 to AUD$8,900.
