The orchestra awarded two students bursaries that will assist in their musical tutoring.
Pheobe a bassoonist, and Jessica a trombonist are members of the orchestra and will benefit from musical education within the orchestra.
These bursaries were made possible due to the overwhelming success of the Rodgers and Hammerstein Gala Event held in June 2016.
The Southern Highlands Symphony Orchestra is committed not only to providing fine music for our community but also to providing educational assistance for our young performers.
The Southern Highlands Symphony Orchestra was formed by Highland locals who share a passion for fine orchestral music.
More than 50 musicians from the Highlands and surrounding districts rehearse on a regular basis.
It was envisaged to be and now is a significant feature of the Highlands cultural life.
The Orchestra is conducted by Dr Allan Stiles. Allan has conducted orchestras, bands, choirs and theatre productions over many years.
