The annual Walk for Freedom event will be held to shine a spotlight on the 27 million men, women and children who are trapped in slavery around the world.
According to the 2016 Global Slavery Index, about 4300 people are slaves in Australia, mainly in the prostitution industry.
This year’s host Donna Mauger said the event was held to bring awareness to the reality of human trafficking and slavery.
Th Walk for Freedom is an initiative of A21.
A21 members call themselves ‘abolitionists of the 21st century’, who are fueled by radical hope that human beings everywhere will be rescued from bondage and completely restored.
The Bowral ‘Walk for Freedom’ will take place on October 15 at 9.15am, starting the walk at the Scottish Arms Hotel.
Those involved are asked to wear all black, including a Walk for Freedom t-shirt if previously registered.
Follow the event on social media with the hashtag #WalkForFreedom.
