Playing for the ACT/NSW country side, O’Shannessy was the carnival’s top wicket taker, claiming 16 scalps at an average of 13.63. His best performance was 4-41, including a hat-trick.
The blistering performance is all the more remarkable because at 15 years of age O’Shannessy is a year younger than most participants at the carnival.
O’Shannessy was presented with an Australian Baggy Green Cap in Brisbane last night by Cricket Australia junior coach and former Australian pace bowler Ryan Harris.
He will participate in the U19 National Championships in Tasmania in December.
