NSW Nurses and Midwives Association (NSWNMA) organiser Mark Murphy said the event, which was held at Bowral Bowling Club, was the result of ten months of campaigning. “[The event] was about recognising a victory,” Mr Murphy said. “We also recognise there’s more work to be done.”
NSWNMA assistant general secretary Judith Kiejda said there was a jubilant mood among about 100 people on the day. “It was a fantastic win that couldn’t have been achieved without the effort of the community,” she said. Representatives from the Australian Salaried Medical Officers Federation, Health Services Union, Unions NSW and Public Health First were also in attendance.
