Our committee members are absolutely critical to allowing people in the Highlands region an opportunity to lend their support"
- NSW campaigns manager Sarah Hozack
The event focus is to light the way for families devastated by a blood cancer diagnosis. Every day another 35 Australians are told they have blood cancer, immediately plunging them and their families into a world of gruelling medical treatments and fearful uncertainty.
Now in its 10th year, Light the Night is a unique fundraising event that brings Australia’s blood cancer community together in more than 100 locations, to remember and reflect during a moving ceremony and short lantern walk.
Last year more than 35,000 people from every Australian state and territory attended 143 Light the Night events. NSW campaigns manager Sarah Hozack said being a committee member for Light the Night was a wonderful opportunity to come together and show people in the community affected by blood cancers that in their darkest moment, they’re not alone. “Our committee members are absolutely critical to allowing people in the Highlands region an opportunity to lend their support,” she said.
This year, Light the Night will be held on October 6 at Bradman Oval, Bowral. “Our committee members are fully supported by our fundraising team and receive a comprehensive guide on how to hold their event, as well as posters, flyers, fundraising tools and dedicated phone support,” Sarah said.
