The Big V photo was taken May 20, organised by Wingecarribee Volunteer Centre manager Helen Wooby.
She thanked the 50-strong crowd for giving up time on their Saturday to be recognised for the hard work they do around the shire.
“It’s not about the numbers, it’s about recognising and celebrating the individuals and organisations who give up their time for others,” she said.
“This is also an opportunity to promote volunteer organisations further, and for people to discover places to volunteer that they hadn’t considered before.”
Organisations present at the photograph included Community Links Wollondilly, Wingecarribee Family Support Service, Highlands FM, Berrima District Historical and Family History Society Inc, Meals on Wheels, Moss Vale Soccer Club, Moss Vale Community Garden and Southern Highlands Botanic Gardens.
Each participant received a ticket to be entered in a ‘lucky door’ prize. Councillor Ian Scandrett drew the three prizes for the lucky recipients.
Ms Wooby was glad to see individuals stay behind and talk with each other instead of leaving straight away.
“This is what volunteering is about, meeting other people with similar interests and passions,” she said.
There are currently more than 30 volunteer positions available in the Highlands which need your help.
