And Highlands businesses proved the point for the launch of the Salvation Army’s Red Shield Appeal at the annual Business Breakfast.
Community groups, businesses and retailers from across the shire shared a delicious hot breakfast at Bendooley Estate, paid for by event sponsors so that all donations made on the day are given directly to those in need.
This year, more than $7600 was raised at the breakfast alone. A further $820 was donated by Highlanders at the Bowral Public School markets over the weekend and more donations will be made in the lead up to this month’s door knock appeal.
Southern Highlands Salvation Army lieutenants Jake and Erin Horton thanked the Highlands for its kindness and generosity.
“Anyone else who’d like to help door knock can visit us at the store at 418 Bong Bong Street, Bowral, or donate or register online at salvos.org.au,” Jake said.
