The Spuddies took a 28-14 victory over Warragamba Wombats in the new Cup competition on May 13.
Spuddies captain/coach Aaron Ditton was first to score and pushed the Spuds ahead to take an early lead.
Ditton said in the first 50 minutes of the game both teams were closely matched.
“It was close but we were that little bit fitter and completed our sets a bit better which is what the win came down to,” he said.
Warragmaba put up a good fight in what was a physical match, but Ditton said the Wombats lacked discipline.
“They had some really good players but we played better on the day and had a lot more discipline,” he said.
Ditton said the Spuddies were improving each game and he was pleased with their position at this point in the season.
“We are getting fitter each week and and we are completing a really high percentage of sets, and that’s all I can ask for,” he said.
Ditton praised James Foyer and Matt Hammond as standout players for the Spuddies.
Robertson will play Narellan at Bundanoon Oval on May 20 and Ditton said he was confident the Spuddies could get a win heading into the match.
“We are feeling good. If we continue to complete our sets and stay disciplined we should do a pretty good job,” he said.
The game will kick-off at 1pm.
