Well, I hope the Easter break was good to you all. Our police worked extremely hard to help maintain safety in the command over the break, with a particular emphasis on road safety. Whilst we had no fatalities on our road over the Easter weekend, there were quite a number of drivers still slow on the uptake with regards to traffic offences such as speeding. Surprisingly in this day and age, 12 drivers were infringed for not using restraints in their cars.

Tragically, on Tuesday we had a fatal motor vehicle accident south of Goulburn in Yarra. A female was killed and passengers within the same car were injured. Our thoughts are with the family, such a tragedy.
Locally our police have been out and about also engaging on a daily basis with the community. A number of police attended the Burrawang Markets, to interact with the locals, enjoy the sunshine and get some local crime messages out.
Next week we have Anzac Day, one of the most important days on the national calendar. There will be parades throughout our towns and villages and a wonderful time to remember those that have sacrificed so much for our great country. Always great to see the school kids participating, ensuring the tradition lives on into the next generation of Australians.
Traditionally, ANZAC Day also brings about long celebrations and with that, some drinking. Whilst the vast majority drink responsibly, there will always be a few that do not. I would caution anyone about falling into the trap of drinking all day and then thinking that the day will end well. So, please drink responsibly. We have been in contact with our licensees and communicated our expectations with regards to responsible service of alcohol. There will be police out and about patrolling our clubs, public areas and roads to again ensure people have an enjoyable, but safe day. So everyone's assistance is required.
To all the parents out there, enjoy the school holidays and time with the kids.
Until next time, stay safe.
