Sexuality, Dementia and Challenging Behaviours in Aged Care is a seminar organised by the Rodmell Fund for Aged Care Nurse Education Inc.
President Jan Jones said the information session was open to nurses and carers from the Upper Lachlan, Goulburn-Mulwaree, Wollondilly and Wingecarribee areas.
“This valuable work helps everyone in communities, whether the aged or their families,” she said.
The seminar will be presented by registered geriatric nurse Sharon Wall, who has more than 40 years experience in ageing and aged care.
At the end of the session, participants should have an increased understanding of:
- Ageing and human sexuality
- The impact of dementia on the pathology of the brain
- A range of sexual behaviours that may be influenced by a changing pathology of the brain
- Strategies for working with people who are demonstrating chanfged behaviours
The seminar will be held twice on March 28, at 9.30am to 11.30am and 12.30pm to 2.30pm.
Registration is $20 for registered nurses, enrolled nurses and others requiring CPD points, and $10 for assistants in nursing, students and other carers.
