The band decided last year, amid concern about the prevalence of mental illness in the Highlands, to donate proceeds from previously held concerts to the Black Dog Institute. To make a contribution and help to address this issue, the band president Gerry Power presented a cheque for $3000 to Highlands residents Nerida and Garry Barnsley, who acted on the institute’s behalf.
Garry Barnsley said the band’s donation had been earned from the talents and dedication of “splendid musicians, here in the Highlands – and will be put to good use.” SHCB will present new program ‘Around the World’ on May 27 and 28.
