The Southern Highlands branch of the University of the Third Age puts on many courses each term and among the more unusual is one on envelopes.
Conducted by Roger Humphreys members learned how to make origami envelopes both for presentation and for sending through the postal system.
These envelopes used Japanese Chiyogami and origami paper as well as ordinary computer copy paper.
The second session will involve the decoration of envelopes with inks, paints and gouache.
Mr Humphreys said in the days of IT and instant communication, handcrafted decorated envelopes would make an even greater impression.
