DANIEL Rumsey has broken six world records at the Down Syndrome World Swimming Championships.
Competing in Florence, it was the sixth time the Bundanoon resident has represented Australia at this event.
The championships ran from July 17-21.
Over the four days of competition, he won three individual gold medals and four team gold medals.
On the final day of the competition overnight (Thursday night) Rumsey won a gold medal in the 200m individual medley.
Rumsey was also a part of the Australian team- Miller, Michael Cox, Marks and Rumsey- that broke another world record in the 4x50m freestyle event with a time of 2.10.45.
He won a silver medal in the 50m breaststroke event and also finished fifth in the 100m fresstyle.
On day one of the competition, he won gold in the 100m breaststroke and set a new world record time of 1.30:64.
He also won gold in the 4x50m medley with teammates Aran Miller, Colin Marks and Stephen Donovan.
The Australian team set a new world record time of 2.30.56 and just beat South Africa who finished in second place with a time of 2.30.57.
Rumsey also finished fourth in the 50m backstroke final.
On day two, Rumsey set another individual world record in the 200m breaststroke with a time of 3.10.11.
The Australian team also set a new world record in the 4x100m freestyle relay.
Rumsey, along with Jack Dixon, Marks and Miller finished with a time of 4.58.04.
In the final of the 50m butterfly final, Rumsey finished seventh.
On day three of the competition, the Australian team claimed gold in the 4x100m medley and also set a new world record with a time of 5.35.46.
Rumsey was one of the four swimmers along with Miller, Donovan and Marks.
He also won a silver medal in the 50m freestyle event.
