Two students were plucked from more than 3000 in NSW as finalists for their major works in Drama, Visual Arts, Design and Technology.
Drama student, Michael Turczynski was one of only eight young people in the state selected to perform at the OnStage drama showcase.
Michael will act out his individual piece, The Performer, to hundreds of aspiring drama students at Seymour Centre in Sydney in February next year.
The stage is no foreign place for Michael. He has played several lead roles in some of the regions biggest theatre performances, most recently Faulty Towers and Don't Drink the Water.
Michael said that performing his piece at OnStage was the "pinnacle" of drama and confirmed his desire to pursue an acting career.
"I am still pinching myself to make sure it is real," Michael said.
"When I was starting out, the guys that performed at OnStage were the ones you'd find on the baseball cards, they were the best of the best.
"This is absolutely all I want to do. I have applied for a two-year diploma at Screenwise in Sydney.
"I love theatre because of the audience. I love bouncing and working with the audience. I think theatre is where my home is."
Drama teacher, Phil Cunich said that getting so far was a "big deal" for him, Michael and the school.
"I was really excited to hear about Michael getting through," Mr Cunich said.
"Because he is a very talented performer but also he is very hard working and it is nice to see that hard work paid off."
Another student, Jasper Fernley had received praise for her visual arts major work Captured and has been nominated for ARTEXPRESS. ARTEXPRESS represents the high standards and diversity achieved by Year 12 Visual Arts students across all NSW schools.
She has also been nominated in the DesignTECH category for her major work, A Dress, which will go on display at the Powerhouse Museum in February 2014.
