Keith Edwards, Chris Forrester, Julie Hayden and Robin Staples defeated Terry Norwood, Ted McPhee, Dennis Beatty and Glynn Phillips 19-14 in the match of the day.

Both teams warmed up before the start of the pennant season with a final work out.
After four ends, scores were locked at 4-4 and from that early start one was able to feel there would not be much in this match.
After 13 ends team Staples had a 12-10 lead.
The scores still tight after 17 ends with team Staples with its nose in front 16-12.
At the finish team Staples came away with a five shot win.
All players showed top form, the question is now can they carry this form into pennant play.

1928 George Young, crack jockey and rider of that wonderful New Zealand racehorse, gloaming, played with Randwick club (NSW) in his late thirties, and the latest recruits to the game- Allan Kippax, Les Cubit, Ted Forssberg, and Harold Horder, are still in their forties.
