Now, in his first season for the Kookaburras, he's delivered a century.
Peppering the fences and filling the stat sheet, Hill Top Kookaburra Cricket Club's Steven Baines had been close to a century, but has now accomplished it.

"This is my first year at Hill Top and it's the best move I've made," Baines said.
"I haven't enjoyed my cricket like this since I was in high school.
"It was our fourth and final T20 game, we were very unlucky in our game earlier against Robertson, we fell three runs short.
"I was pretty disappointed at myself how I got out against Robbo with a silly shot against a great ball by Coxy.
"So my main focus was to stay in and as captain lead by example."
The higher the run tally got for Baines, the cooler his demeanor became. It was earlier on when he was most nervous.
"I wasn't really nervous when I was in the 90s, I was more nervous facing the first ball," Baines said.
"We lost a wicket and I ran over to find out what I was on (88) and I knew 12 more runs and it's yours. So I just played it safe from there."
Once Baines had reached the milestone, it was celebration time. Baines can't thank his club enough.
"The boys were pretty happy for me and I know I was absolutely on cloud nine," he said.
"I have a lot to owe to Hill Top for allowing me and my boys to come play for their club and what a great club it is.
"We all train together, have a drink together, and support each other which is the best part about it.
"I came from a pretty successful club in Wingello and was pretty upset when second and third grade teams were no longer, so I was having a chat with Alex Debs about bringing my team and play as Hill Top's thirds team, and without hesitation they welcomed us like we had been there forever.
"Now it's time to get ready and prepare for the 40 over game next week as we are sitting two points out of the four.
"We got a rough schedule as we play the top four sides in a row when we resume play on January 30. But, we're looking forward to it."
