Recently being accepted into the Basketball NSW Hoopfest development tournament which is set to be held in January 2021, Moss Vale Magic's, Grace Bentley is ready to hoop.
The Basketball NSW Hoopfest is a development tournament that is run by Basketball NSW.
The Hoopfest will give elite junior players the opportunity to compete against the best athletes from NSW Country, NSW Metro and ACT.
The tournament also allows coaches and athletes to gain experience in high-level tournament play, preparing for potential involvement in future state teams.
This event will also serve as an integral part of the selection process for the U18 State team programs.
Before making the competition, Grace has been around the game since she was welcomed to the world.
"I began local competition basketball since I was five years old," Grace said.
"I've been playing basketball, basically since I was born. My family are involved in the game, so I was pretty much born into it."
On hearing she had been accepted to the Hoopfest tournament, Grace was excited for another opportunity to showcase her skill-set.
"I was really excited as always," Grace said.
"I'm really happy that I get the chance to go and compete in the competition again.
"I'm training basically everyday that I can. I'm out on the court as much as I can be.
"I'm also playing three times a week. I'm just doing as much as I can to make myself as best as possible."
Playing with the Moss Vale Magic, under 16 team has continually sharpened Grace's skills and mindset heading into the competition. She's looking to prove she can be one of the best.
"I'm just wanting to give it my best," Grace said.
"I'd like to show that I do have these skills in me and hopefully I can show that I could be one of the best.
"I do hope to go professionally when I'm older.
"I really want to show that I do have a talent and I want to be able to show that with everyone."
The Basketball NSW Hoopfest development tournament will be held at Penrith Valley Regional Sports Centre on January, 4-7, 2021.
