The charity does tireless work for special needs kids in the Southern Highlands and 4K have now welcomed Peter Crittenden to the life members table.
Unknown to Crittenden, as he pulled up to the event, little did he know that he was about to get the ultimate honour from the charity.
"Naturally being inducted felt pretty good (laughs)," Crittenden said.
"It was a genuine surprise. Most of the time you have a feeling that sort of stuff is going to happen. I had no idea whatsoever.
"It was a big surprise and a huge honour."
A member for a long standing time, Crittenden still loves attending 4K events and helping the kids in need.
"I've been a part of 4K for 15 years," Crittenden said.
"I've been attending their lunches and other events for 25 years. I've enjoyed everyone one of them."
2020 has been a rough year on a lot of charities. With the COVID pandemic creating mayhem in peoples personal lives, it's difficult to expect donations at this time. But, 4K continue to push through and help.
"It was really great to see a lot of familiar faces," Crittenden said.
"It's been a tough year for many charities and fundraisers. 4K is keeping itself going. There's been a lot of work going on behind the scenes, particularly our chairman Tony Springett.
"He's been getting things ready up for when we return. But for everyone to come out for the recognition, it was a huge honour."
25 years have been logged by Crittenden. Now he's a life member, but his work with 4K is far from over. He still has goals he'd like to accomplish.
"I'd like for 4K to have more recognition in the Southern Highlands," Crittenden said.
"Also as a great charity overall I'd like to see it well known in surrounding areas.
"I think 4K is a small charity that punches above their weight.
"For the cause they serve, special needs kids, it's a fantastic organisation and I'd love to see them get more recognition.
"I'm not convinced 4K is as recognised as it should be. I'd love to see them well known in the local and broader communities."
