Now with COVID restrictions easing up, it's time for some horseplay.
The Moss Vale Pony Club are excited to get some fresh faces through their doors and getting their long faced companions back in action.
President of the Moss Vale Pony Club, Brian Spence said it was a difficult time during COVID, but it's great to be back again.
"We've just started up again since COVID and we're welcoming any new members that are interested," Spence said.
"We shut down completely due to COVID. We weren't able to do anything. It was really disappointing.
"Now we have to get the horses back into shape. It's like any sport, you have to work back into it.
"All state events and competitions around the state came to an absolute stand still."
Working with animals and COVID restrictions could be considered confusing and difficult, but Spence says it's not the four-legged species finding it burdensome.
"It's probably easier to adhere to the restrictions then say football or cricket," Spence said.
"On a horse you're a bit of a distance away from one another anyways. It's when it comes to the kids and they're having morning tea, they all get together and run around and get close to one another.
"That's changed how we have to keep the kids separated when not on their horse. And that's difficult because they're wanting to have fun."
It's been a long time since a the club had a dominate male competitor walk through their doors. Spence is hoping 2020 will bring change to that and can guarantee the boys will have fun.
"It's a very female dominated sport," Spence said.
"There's been a real struggle to get the boys involved. There's a lot of great fun to have had on horses. We're really urging the boys to come out and get involved.
"Horse sport is much more exciting than football I can tell you (laughs).
"Polo cross is a great sport. Very difficult to become great at. It can be much harder than motorbike riding. You have to be fast, agile and switched on about your whereabouts.
"But, Moss Vale has really struggled to attain male members in the last 20 years. I've been here for 20 years and we've had maybe two boys come through here in 20 years."
With COVID restrictions easing, the upcoming events have the club and the competitors excited.
"We have the Del Throsby showjumping and dressage competition coming up this month," Spence said.
"If anyone is interested in competing or just joining the club, we would love it if they went to our Facebook page and sent us a message.
"We also have a rally day coming up. It's a great time to come have a try. All the details are on our Facebook page."
Entries for the Del Throsby Memorial Day, showjumping and dressage event that will be held at Bowral's Bong Bong Racecourse on Sunday, July 26 will be closing in less than a week.
