This is a part of the Government's easing of COVID-19 restrictions for state sporting organisations.

The move enables more than 80,000 men, women, girls and boys across the state to fully prepare for the return on July 18 of community football for under 6s to open age and those in the state's major competitions, the Harvey Norman Women's NSW Premiership, Presidents Cup and Sydney Shield.

NSWRL Chief Executive David Trodden acknowledged the huge amount of work being done by various stakeholders to enable a return to play.

He also congratulated Rugby League participants, officials and volunteers for their patience and for embracing the new COVID-safe protocols.

"Everyone has been working hard to get the game up and running and to comply with the new protocols that will make the environment as COVID-safe as possible for all involved and the general community," Trodden said.

"The return to full contact training today and unlimited group sizes is the final piece for club to be able to complete their preparations to get back on the field on 18 July.

"Everyone across the game is just so excited about footy returning, and we are especially looking forward to seeing all of our junior players running around with big smiles on their faces."
