The Wingecarribee Shire councillor has been in self isolation on doctor's recommendation since March 19 after he came down with a slight cold.
Cr Nelson arrived from Argentina on March 8, prior to the self isolation travel requirement and developed a cold a week later while visiting family in Canberra.
A quick test at the medical centre came back negative for COVID-19 however doctors felt that quarantine was a safer option.
Despite not being able to leave the house or play a round of golf, Cr Nelson is in good spirits and was happy to take a proactive approach to help flatten the curve.
He decided to share his story with the Southern Highlands News after some councillors expressed concern about the situation at the March 25 meeting.
Contrary to reports in other media, Cr Nelson has said he has not visited Moss Vale Golf Course in more than a month.
Residents are reminded to practice social distancing, self isolation if possible, wash their hands and to listen to medical advice to help flatten the curve.
