The Southern Highlands Hockey Association has declared that things may not run as scheduled, but the association is doing very well.
President of the Southern Highlands Hockey Association Paul Sabatier has announced the Highlands competition will be delayed for now.
"There are seven clubs within the Highlands association," Sabatier said.
"Our governing body, Hockey NSW announced that the competition will be delayed until May.
"We won't be starting this weekend like we had planned. So there will be no hockey activity until after May."
As this may fill players and spectators of the sport with dismay, all is not lost as the association has a strategy in place and is looking good.
"We are in a good place," Sabatier said,
"We've got a dedicated facility where we hold our sports. We're able to modify our schedule and we had already allowed a period over the school holidays for a break to happen, particularity for the juniors.
"So the impact has been lessened by having that plan in place and knowing we can re-schedule for later in the year or run a shorter competition."
In the mean-time, players are urged to keep fighting fit and remain ready for the competition.
"I urge players to keep exercising," Sabatier said.
"They can do that while being socially distancing. Remember to always maintain your health and well-being.
"That is an absolute must at this point in time."
At this time many sporting clubs and associations may struggle, so if you're a lover of sport, remember to always get behind your club and association.
"We can always take help," Sabatier said.
