Newest Lion signing on the dotted line, Hayley Farrell said she's excited to play for the green and gold.
"It looks really fun and I know some people on the team already," Farrell said.
"I can't wait to play rugby league, it looks like a lot of fun."
Junior Mittagong Lion's President Tim Murphy said there is one word that he and the club want to instill into the new and returning players.
"Fun," Murphy said.
"That's the big word for this year. Enjoyment for the kids. Camaraderie and everyone coming along.
"We did a survey last year and asked what was the main reason that you play for Mittagong Lions, and the response was to be with my mates.
"Friendship, camaraderie and fun is what we want to press this year. Whilst we would love to see the results on the field, it's all about starting off the field.
"We want the kids bonding at training, getting to know each other and making friends. That's what the clubs all about."
The Lions winning ways won't be forgotten, but they want to teach their players important lessons on the field that can be used throughout their livelihoods.
"Winning is always a bonus, but it's also about how to accept defeat," Murphy said.
"Learning those life lessons is important. In games there are winners and losers.
"We have had a couple of sides that didn't win too many games, but come awards time they got granted those awards because of the way they held themselves and in the style in which they have done it.
"Winning isn't everything."
There will be more time for any kids looking to get involved with playing the great game of rugby league with the Lions. To get involved with the club before pre-season is advised for time to gel, but not the end all.
"March 7 against the Highlands Storm will be the first pre-season game," Murphy said.
"The new local rivalry will start then. First competition game will be March 28. Players can sign up anytime during the year until June 30.
"Even if you've missed the start of the comp, there's still time to sign up."
Registration day two will begin, Sunday, February 2 at Mittagong Sports Ground from 10 am - 1 pm.
The NSW Government also provide Active Kids sporting vouchers with their Active Kids Programs.
The Active Kids program provides two $100 vouchers for parents, guardians and carers of school-enrolled children to use towards sport and active recreation costs each year.
