Extreme fire danger was forecast by the Rural Fire Service for the region on Thursday.
Conditions will continue to be dangerous in the coming days due to high temperatures, strong and gusty winds and low humidity.
Advice for people in areas of extreme fire danger includes:
- Avoid bushland areas.
- Leaving early is the safest option for your survival. If you plan to leave, leave early
- Do not wait for a warning. If you are threatened by fire you may not get assistance.
- Only consider staying if you are prepared to the highest level - such as your home is specially designed, constructed and modified, and situation to withstand a fire, you are well prepared and can actively defend it if a fire starts.
- People with respiratory conditions who are affected by bush fire smoke should activate their health management plan and seek medical advice if necessary. Take precautions, such as staying indoors and closing windows.
