Wingecarribee Shire Council closed the road following a request from the NSW Rural Fire Service (RFS).

All west-bound traffic must terminate at the junction of High Range Lane until further notice. Local residents are excepted.

The precautionary closure is effective immediately and is a result of deteriorating weather conditions and increased fire activity including back burning operations and heavy vehicle containment work currently underway in the area.

A variable message board and road closure barricades have been erected on site.
