But the competitive attitude was all about the game at hand despite a week of controversy regarding 'home-ground' expectations in the Highlands District Cricket Association competition.
A directive from Bradman Centre executive director Rina Hore requesting that the Bradman Foundation "expected that BCC will be allocated Bradman Oval for all Saturdays the ground is available" has raised the ire of other cricket clubs in the region.
However, the November 9 clashes at Lackey Park and Bradman Oval were all about solid competition on the field.
With two wins a piece, both Robertson-Burrawang Cricket Club (RBCC) and Bowral Cricket Club (BCC) were looking to walk away with bragging rights and top position on the competition ladder.
RBCC won the toss and opted to bat first putting on a stunning show of skill with the axe.
With 45 overs completed, RBCC made an impressive 276 runs.
Matt Cupitt was out for 80, Mitchell Wright hit an impressive six sixes before he was out for 74 and Dean Roxburgh was out for 44.
BCC couldn't out score a fired up RBCC, with only 175 runs to their name.
Director of senior cricket and first grade cricket player Conor Murray for BCC said the fielding was down.
Bowler Cameron Belshaw got an early wicket and then went on to bowl another three batsman, however the early lead didn't eventuate and BCC lost by 101 runs.
Meanwhile it was a close contest in the match on Bradman Oval between Hill Top/Northern Villages and Wingello Tigers.
After winning the toss, Hill Top elected to bat first and scored 9 for 164 from their allotted 45 overs.
A quick fire 47 runs for the 8th wicket between Rod Eirth and Mitch Finlayson allowed Wingello to chase down the total in the 38th over with two wickets to spare.
For Wingello Andrew Benson top scored with 34, Mitchell Finlayson 29, Michael Pike 23, Cameron Pike 25 and Rod Eirth 22.
Best of the Wingello bowlers was Rod Eirth who took 4 for 24. Other wicket takers were Dale Wellington 2/28, Arron Deegan 2/25 and Grant Pike 1/32.
The Hill Top/Northern Villages team was pleasantly surprised with the performance of a newcomer.
Captain Alex Debs said that Tim Coenen was impressive to top score for the team with 45 runs.
"He hasn't played in five years so we are hoping for a promising season from him," Debs said.
