It all went smoothly save for one hiccup when a player with their team's shirt bag arrived at Hill Top instead of Yerrinbool, which added a touch of excitement and lead to a new record in getting a team of players into their playing shirts.
We're on the down-hill run for the 2019 season now with only four rounds of ordinary competition to go. End of season preparations are well underway - either for the well-earned summer break or the excitement of the finals series.
Our U12s struggled for numbers, running with 10 which included a couple of injured players. They were satisfied to come away with a one all draw with Oxley.
The U13s met top of the table Yerrinbool and weathered the storm for the first half, but ultimately tired after a hectic week of sport and succumbed 3 - 0.
It was the first week they hadn't got on the board and a timely reminder of the hard work still to come for the balance of the season and the finals series. Shai Brown from the U12s stepped into goals to cover the regular keeper and did a fabulous job, committing well to taking on the opposition attack one on one when they'd overcome the defence at times, and then travelling to keep his own team on the park.
Our youth grade side travelled to Moss Vale for a Tuesday night match against St Pauls and came home with a 3 - 1 win.
The goal scorers were Nick Neilsen, Kurt Crawford and Judah Right. They're building well and we're looking forward to seeing them participate in the finals series in the first season we've run a youth grade side.
The men's teams played each other and after a 11 - 1 thumping the last time they met the Gold team were determined to show their improvement. It was a competitive but good natured match with bucket loads of good vibes afterwards.
With a three all draw the Gold men were proud of their progress as a team and are peaking at the right end of the season. Both teams are well placed for the upcoming finals series.
The Maroon goals were shared between Dan Freere, Zac Levin and Clay Caines. The Gold goals between Jefferson Valencia, Kurt Crawford and Corey Zakara.
The Gold ladies met Moss Vale Black at David Wood and worked hard for a 2 - 1 win. Tannah Warner hit another cracking goal from well out in the first half, with Lizzie Green following suit in the second half off a perfect cross.
With all senior teams and our U13s expecting to make the finals it's fair to say the club as a whole is looking forward to the series and the excitement it brings.
