The Moss Vale Men's Shed, founded in 2011, has helped men of all ages keep busy while creating an accepting atmosphere of camaraderie.
August 17-18 they will open their doors and be inviting the public to come see what it's all about and looking for new members. For the past 18 months John Maxwell has been president of the Shed and it's been a positive year and a half.
"The camaraderie is the most important thing here," Mr Maxwell said.
"We look after one another. If anyone has any problems we try our best to help them out."
That camaraderie has helped out many men in need and allowed them to open up and express themselves in a positive way.
"We have one particular bloke who had all sorts of problems," Mr Maxwell said.
"He was essentially scared of the world. He's actually a singer and after a while he came out of his shell and dragged all his gear in here and sang us all songs. He's really come a long way. He's a lot better now."
The Men's Shed create things using woodwork, metal work and machinery. They repair items such as furniture, clocks and kids toys.
Even if the maker gene skipped you, you're more then welcome to come down for a yarn.
"There are guys who come in just to have a chat," Mr Maxwell said.
"There's quite a group of them. Even the ones who do woodwork or metal work end up on the couch."
The second president of the Shed ruled a president can only serve three terms.
With this being Mr Maxwell's second term, time is beginning to run out. But he can look back fondly on his accomplishments.
"Yeah, I think I've had a successful run," Mr Maxwell said.
"I don't get abused too much (laughs). We got a lot of things done here in that time."
August 17 and 18 Highlanders can come down to Moss Vale Showgrounds and see what it's all about.
"Expect to see things people have made," Mr Maxwell said.
"Some of it will be for sale, some of it just for viewing. We'll have a sausage sizzle going.
"Last year we had one of the coldest weekends on record, we did sell a lot of sausages because of that but we'll be hoping for a nice weekend out this time around."
